DREAMS AREN'T WHAT THEY USED TO BE.
![]() Brendon Laovich, lived a normal life with his parents in the city. When he was very young, his parents had themselves voluntarily tested and found they were all carriers of the Kerns-Norman gene. As panic began to grip the city, his father moved them to his parent's home in the country. There Brendon lived in love and peace. When he began attending school, he met [name], another KN child. They became close friends and before too long into high school the two began dating. He was the wheel to her cart, the wind beneath her wings. Possessed of a naturally passive personality, [name] gave Brendon purpose, drive. Her fire set him alight, made him into a fuller version of himself. The two married when he was 20, she 19, against all the advice of their parents. Despite the doubts of their parents, they lived a happy and lovely life together. Six months into his marriage, tragedy struck. Agents from House Hapsburg looking for templates kidnapped both Brendon and [name]. Seeing potential in Brendon's good looks and strength, Hapsburg staff decided to keep him as a template for the house. He was renamed Bellen as is policy for houses registering a new KN1. From the very beginning, Bellen was threatened with his wife's life to get him to cooperate with their demands. He was told she was sold overseas, which was mostly the truth. She was sold to Gloriana, and a deal made with a rich overseas buyer. One iteration of [name] would be created and sold, while the original template left on ice at Gloriana. Bellen was told his good behavior would result in better treatment for [name], and he believed them. He was given the house mark on the inside of his cheek and augmented for strength and durability. The model adverts branded him as a kink and bdsm model, and several iterations were created and sold to private owners. His body is kept the exact same for each iteration, with his memories being restored in such a way as to make him believe he is the template. Bell knows it's quite possible he isn't the original, but he has no proof. What Bell is, in fact, is the only the current House Hapsburg Brenden. The original Brenden is in storage, waiting for when Bell might misstep badly enough to get himself killed. In his years at Hapsburg, Bell has become numb to the continuing horrors. He makes no effort for self preservation, no effort to fight back in the cage matches they've just started putting him in. He is headed on a one way trip to a cold slab and a dark drawer if he doesn't change his ways.

As a safety feature, most Hapsburg mice have an external spine that limits any sensory input that might trigger a spike in heart rate, in turn triggering a fight-or-flight reflex. Hapsburg's clientele tend to be more discerning than the average ones, and thorough inspections and testings are common in the designated "white rooms" in Hapsburg compounds. Hapsburg mice wear the house brand on the inside of their right cheek. |
